Academics and knowledge
Our education methods encourage children to learn in classes which are orderly yet allow children to study through the guidance of the teacher.
We believe formality has it place in lessons but children’s interaction with teachers is important; also study tasks need a quiet learning atmosphere. So good class control enhances the enjoyment of well prepared lessons.
Home work may be set to reinforce lesson practice. We expect our day scholars to do this study work in their homes. Our Boarders complete their homework during the afternoon or evening prep sessions.
Our teachers are required to ensure all the children in a class are able to understand the main points of the lesson with revision teaching and exercises which help create whole class learning.
We encourage children to show self discipline in their learning. This should allow them to ask for help when they need it, but a good effort is required in any lesson task. It is important for children to take their school education seriously. Where there are problems we are pleased to meet the parents to discuss solutions and options.
Testing on all subjects is spread over a monthly period to allow for proper study of each subject. Most of these tests are short and cover specific lessons.
